The principles of the Social Nationalist Renaissance are not merely abstract ideas; they are a living energy of love that has planted in the souls of Social Nationalists a deep affection for their homeland and for the people of their nation. This love has driven them to think and act for the sake of the common good, the happiness of society, and its progress. From this great love springs initiative, from it comes the impulse toward every duty, and through it, responsibility is embodied in times of hardship as well as in days of prosperity.
Thus, it was not surprising that Social Nationalists, in the homeland and in the diaspora, rushed to extend a helping hand to the people of their nation in the Levant after the devastating earthquake, nor that they mobilized at other moments to aid their families in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa during displacement—opening their homes to the displaced and sharing whatever resources and means they had. Likewise, at various stages, our people have endured crises, especially during the Lebanese war; they have been the vigilant guardians of people’s safety and reassurance in their areas—supporting them, providing for their needs, and standing by them in every matter. Wherever calamity strikes, their presence is an act of love and practical solidarity, not a passing word.
These are the ethics of the Renaissance, which have instilled in them the meanings of national brotherhood and loyalty to the homeland, and have planted in their souls the values of giving, sincerity, chivalry, and courage. It is this ethic that makes them feel that the pains of their people are their own pains, that their people’s dignity is their own dignity, and that their duty is to be among the first to console, to help, to restore, and to rebuild—and among the first to defend the sovereignty and dignity of the homeland. They are present in every hardship, steadfast in the face of every threat, carrying the torch of love, work, and sacrifice for their people and their country.
Social Nationalists are the bearers of a national cause concerned with all the members of their people - their life issues, their interests, their rights, and their sufferings across the expanse of the homeland. What unites them is not artificial borders, but the unity of life, interests, and destiny. Therefore, their humanitarian action in every disaster or ordeal is not incidental. Still, a sincere expression of a firm belief that “life is only worthy in dignity,” and that dignity is built only through love, work, and sacrifice.
This is the great love that burns in the souls and hearts of Social Nationalists: the love of the people and of the beautiful homeland—a love that shines with goodness, truth, and beauty, and becomes a living act of giving, generosity, and building. With this love and with this living faith, Social Nationalists rise to the rescue of their people, racing ahead of pain, soothing wounds, and standing on the front lines of rebuilding and strengthening society so that it may remain alive, resilient, cohesive, and capable of overcoming ordeals and shaping a better tomorrow.
Before this continuous giving of the Social Nationalists, I can almost hear Saadeh’s voice echoing from beyond:
“O Social Nationalists, how great is my satisfaction with you, and how deep is my pride in you… If you hold fast to your Social Nationalist faith that has guided you to the truth with the steadfastness you have shown until now, and if you endure hardships and adversities with all the patience that your noble character can bear, then you shall meet the greatest victory for the greatest patience in history.”
